Frequently Asked Questions

Well the reason Drawtion was created was simply due to the lack of intuitive and accesible drawing plugings into Notion. There was other drawing integrations available but I found it hard to organise and keep my notes in order and updated.

So we decided to make it a bit better, more user friendly and readily availble to those that prefer the hand written notes, those that love to draw and keep it all in one place and just those that love to think in a visual manner.

To embed within Notion, first integrate your Notion account with Drawtion.

Go to the settings, log in to your Notion account, and grant access to the primary page you want to use. It's recommended to create a page called 'Drawtion' or add a sub-page under your chosen primary page with this name.

Once set up, any whiteboard you create will be organized within the folder structure. For example, if your whiteboard is saved in /University/Subject 1/Lecture 1, it will appear in Notion under /Drawtion/University/Subject 1/Lecture 1.

Alternatively, you can use the search function at the bottom of the whiteboard. Click the button, search for a Notion page, and embed your whiteboard there. Note that the search results are limited to the top 2 matches, so be specific!

To enable Google Drive Sync, you need to be a Plus member. Sign up on the pricing page if you haven’t already.

Next, go to the settings and log in to your Google Drive account. Grant permission to Drawtion to access your Google Drive. This allows you to save and load whiteboards directly from Google Drive.

If you use both Google Drive and Drawtion's cloud storage, it will always load the most recent version. For instance, if you save to Google Drive, the next load will come from there, and vice versa. You can also manually choose your preferred storage location in the settings.

This one is personal preference! You can either draw in the Drawtion web app or in the embeded drawtion whiteboard within Notion. The only caveat to doing it in Notion, is that due to Notion's templating, the embeded screen wont be as big as the web application. You can full screen it, but its still not truly full screen unfortunately.

But whichever way you do it, it will be updated within the Notion embedded, which means that you dont have to keep embedding it over and over again. Just simply load up Notion and it should be there.

And if it's showing an older version of the white board, you can simply refresh the whiteboard from the menu or Load it directly from Drawtion or Google Drive.
